Nine months is a long time to make some leather watch bands. That is the time we took since we came up with the idea on starting a leather co and our official launch in May 2016.

We could have been faster to get the first product out to you if we were to source and retail finished products that are already available in the market, but we didn’t. Instead, we took sometime to learn about the leather crafting process, starting from designing, materials sourcing and making leather watch bands. We believe that this is key to making good quality leather products and differentiate ourselves with other online marketeers.

We made plenty of prototypes over the months and tested some through everyday wear and use. Some turned out well and we released on our online store, some didn’t and we continue to improvise. It’s all part of the learning process after all, our team is enjoying this experience.

Here is a closer look at our watch bands and how they fit together with your Apple Watch. The Craftsman, Military and Truman Series are all featured in this video.

One of the many features that makes the Apple Watch likeable is the ability to change or swap the watch band darn easily. I would wear the sports band for my workout, dress up the watch with a formal strap when I suit up, or have an every day strap which fits most of my styling for most occasion.

The Classic Craftsman

The Classic Craftsman is made with tapered tanned leather. The thickness of the tapered leather reduces at the tail strap to increase comfort on your wrist. The hand stitched lines around the edges and two narrow loops showcase key elements of the Classic Craftsman design, classy and timeless.

The Military Series

This series is inspired by the NATO and ZULU watch band designs. Unlike the traditional one piece NATO and ZULU watch bands, the Military Series does not run under the Apple Watch to ensure the heart rate sensor remain functional. We made it fit into the Apple Watch adapters.

These watch bands are made from tapered leather and finished with a round stainless steel buckle and two closed steel loops. The clean design made purposely to pay tribute to the simplicity and yet functional original NATO and ZULU straps. We think this is perfect for casual wear and especially when you are feeling tactical.

The Truman Series

The Truman Series is an everyday watch band. It features a simple corner stitching and a single loop to hold the tail strap. It is made out of tapered oil tanned full grain leather. These watch bands are durable and will stand the test of time, ageing gracefully and adapt to your wrist gracefully.

This is one of those watch band that looks great with anything. Just like the classic craftsman, it is available with a stainless steel buckle, anodise to your watch colour.

One of the many features that makes the Apple Watch likeable is the ability to change or swap the watch band easily. We love it!

It is great that Apple made a variety of watch bands but you don’t have to limit yourself to one vendor. Afterall, watch bands were invented way before Apple Watch.  There are plenty of really nice aftermarket watch bands that go with any style at your liking. All you need is a pair of Apple Watch adapter and a watch band that fits.

There are generally two types of Apple Watch adapters out there:

The U bar adapter

The design of this adapter is found in Apple’s watch band collection. There are two tiny screws holding the U bar together. You need a screw driver (usually a pentalobe screwdriver) to remove the U bar.

 The spring bar adapter

[Rose Gold 48mm Apple Watch Adapter]

This is a traditional mechanism that is commonly used in watches. The spring bar that holds the watch band to the adapter can be easily detach with just a pin (i.e. paperclip) that fits into the pin hole.

Therefore, it is really convenient to change the watch bands without any special tool.

At Cross Stitches, our watch bands come with the spring bar adapter in various colors to complement your Apple Watch face. We think the build of the traditional spring bar adapter is more robust and the application is a lot easier for our users.

Simple and easy, we like to keep it that way!

“We want to create a leather goods company that resonates with quality and style.”

passion :

[pash-uh n]

A strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything:
A passion for leather crafting.

Cross Stitches was born out of a passion for well-made leather goods. As consumers of quality leather goods, we thought that it would be a great adventure to embark on a journey to actually get involved in the leather crafting process starting from designing, sourcing, manufacturing and trading high quality leather product ourselves.

Meet Uncle Ming. We were on a vacation with Uncle Ming. He has over 30 years of experience in the leather watch band business. Conversations sparked. One thing led to another and the three of us with Uncle Ming’s knowledge in the craft decided that we could start something new. As each of us have unique skills that complement each other, we decided to work together on a new leather goods company and start with what we know best – Watch Bands.

What We Stand For.

We want to create a leather goods company that resonates with quality and style. We want our leather goods to be a part of everyday life. Think about a simple watch band that would subtly complement one’s outfit and highlights their individuality, style and confidence.

New dreams are romantic. What people seldom talk about is the hard work that goes into making dreams a reality. The engine has begun, the first step has been taken and plans put into place. Cross Stitches is already out there in the wild. We learn, we deliver!

Our place smells like fresh new leather in the last couple of months. Our design and production team are ramping up hours for ideas and products to prepare for our launch.

Look out and come back soon for our launch before 2016.
